IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes!
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Yep! Please talk to me if there's likely to be more serious injuries though.
RELATIONSHIPS: Yes!
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: Alex has no special abilities. She is very strong-willed so may be able to resist a small amount of mind reading, but probably not much. Anyone who reads her mind will find a deep-rooted conviction she created this reality.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: N/A
MEDICAL INFORMATION: None physically here, but characters with certain abilities may be able to pick up on the fact she is between life and death.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS:

Alex is offended by things she perceives as injustice or discrimination, though the way she reacts to this is highly variable. She can be guaranteed to react poorly to explosions or reality seeming to fall apart around her. She is also likely to be upset by implications she won't get home, or anyone questioning her skills as a mother.

As far as things that could trigger other players or characters, Alex is wholly convinced that nothing around her is real. She is very compassionate and capable of forming attachments to people, but she believes everyone to be constructs of her mind and particularly at first will treat them as such. Alex is also an alcoholic. She has very unhealthy drinking habits that are likely to become obvious in threads where alcohol is available to her.

Please fill out the opt-out form below if possible so I don't unintentionally cause you or your character discomfort you are not okay with dealing with. This form contains questions that are not currently relevant, but may come up later as Alex regains more memories.

Personality

What is your character most afraid of? How are they defined by this fear? (100-300 words)

Death is Alex's absolute fear, and for her it's a very real possibility. She was shot in 2008, and when she awoke it was 1981. Her theory is that she is within her own mind, and at this point she has spent over a year fighting and clawing to wake up. She is constantly on the look out for signs that might help her, both in terms of finding out what is happening in the real world, and for actions she can take to help her in the one she's in. Sometimes she finds herself starting to settle, but that doesn't last long.

Although it's her own death she fears, she has more selfless reasons that make survival all the more important. Her daughter is only 12 years old and as a single parent Alex knows she must do everything within her power to return to her. She knows firsthand what it is like to live through the death of your parents, and is determined beyond all else not to subject her daughter to the same loss.

What is your character's greatest desire? How are they defined by this desire? (100-300 words)

Tying into the above, Alex's greatest desire is to be a mother to Molly. This is her driving force throughout the series. As she starts to become more settled in the 80s it's Molly who keeps her from letting herself become too comfortable there. She talks to apparitions of her frequently, always promising and trying to reassure her that she will come back to her even though she's aware that she can't hear her. She is terrified when she begins to forget what Molly looks likes. How could she ever forget the face of her own daughter?

As a child, even before their deaths, Alex spent much of her time apart from her parents. Her mother and father were both extremely career driven, often leaving her at school or in the care of others as a result of their busy jobs and political activism. She has fond memories of both of them, but nonetheless remembers how often they left her. She was frequently lonely, and it's only as an adult she discovered her mother had actually been planning to step away from work to spend more time with her. Something that was never able to transpire.

Although Alex has worked extremely hard to get where she is today she refuses to let that be at the cost of her relationship with her daughter. She wants Molly to know she is loved, and has made it a priority to try and make sure Molly knows how important she is to her ever since she was born.

How will not having memories change your character? What core personality traits, if any, will change? How? (200-300 words)

There are times that Alex's memory has started to waver, but this doesn't undermine her core personality. In part because she just won't let it. She can't let it. Losing her memories completely is likely to inspire her to work even harder on trying to regain what she knows she must have lost, no matter the cost to herself. She knows it's imperative to return home, and that's much easier if she actually knows what home is.

It may be a contributor to the way she treats others, particularly at first, but detachment is an inevitability upon finding herself in a world she doesn't believe is real. This is the biggest reason behind the differences in her own behaviour. She is likely to behave far more like she did when she first arrived in 1981 than she did back in her original time of 2008 where she seems to have been far more restrained.

She is compassionate enough not to want to deliberately hurt anyone, but not enough not to make reference to the fact she thinks this is all in her mind. Definitely not enough not to make reckless choices she might not have done in the world she originally came from. Often this is something that will be detrimental to herself more than anyone, but that doesn't mean she won't risk others too, particularly if she feels they are in the wrong or this might be the thing that gets her home.

Memories

You have 10 memory points. How will you use them?

Major Memory: 2 points.
For all the things she doesn't know, one important memory remains. The world in which Alex lives isn't real. It, along with everyone in it, is a construct of her mind.

Relationship Core: 3 points.
She remembers someone important to her. Someone she needed to look after. She can't remember what they're called or what they were to her, but she has a few fleeting memories. Inexplicably, she knows it's their birthday. She must get back for this.

Skills: 2 points.
Alex is a psychologist. She is trained in the psychological profiling of criminals, but has a specific interest in police officers who have undergone unusual traumas. She is well established in her field, and has spent the majority of her life working to get herself where she is. She had a private education and attended a prestigious university after undergoing her police training at Hendon. She had a secondment to the CIA at one point in her career, which she credits as being the place she learned a number of her profiling techniques.

Points remaining: 3
